Sour cherry
(prinus cerarus)
Very healthy food, woody drupe fruit.
Cherry is very rich with vitamins A and C and contains manganese, iron, copper, phenolic acids, polyphenols, flavonoids, which makes this fruit rich with the highest doses of antioxidants.
Regular consumption of fruit keeps the body and thus prevents many cancer-causing disease, myocardial infarction, diabetes, strengthens blood vessels.
Here in Serbia are mostly cultivated varieties of sour cherry called Oblacinska, most in area of Nis, but nothing less in a Knjazevac area.
It is used for making juices, jams, compotes, brandy and it is stored mainly in frozen condition for making many pies, ice cream and others.
